 When I think of what it truly means to be a father—steady, selfless, loving, and strong—Anthony Terril Buxton immediately comes to mind. A devoted father of four and proud grandfather of two, Terril has not only embraced the responsibilities of fatherhood but has also become a guiding light in his family, church, and community. Terril’s journey as a father began with courage and unwavering love. As a single father, he raised two young daughters independently, pouring his heart into nurturing and guiding them with strength and compassion. Later, he married and continued to build a beautiful, blended family, always leading with faith, humility, and patience. What makes Terril truly special is what he has done, but how he does it—with quiet grace, boundless generosity, and a heart that’s always open. He is an active and faithful member of Good Missionary Baptist Church, where he gives of his time and spirit to uplift others. In the community, he’s the one people call when they need a hand, a prayer, or simply a listening ear. His kindness is not performative—it’s who he is, every single day. Those who know Terril know him as a man of integrity, warmth, and deep faith. Whether it’s through his devotion to his family, his church service, or the countless small acts of kindness he performs without fanfare, he lives a life of purpose and love. But among all the roles he fills—husband, church member, neighbor, friend—his most cherished and most important is that of being a father. He has shaped lives, provided strength during storms, and shown his children and grandchildren what it means to be a good man. His legacy is written not in accolades, but in the love and respect of those whose lives he’s touched. Anthony Terril Buxton deserves to be celebrated this Father’s Day, not only for all that he has done but for the extraordinary man and father that he has grown to be and that he continues to be.
